Counting stitches

Hi guys im kinda new to crochet ive been doing it 5 and a half months now however i have a problem. I’m having issues counting rows. Specifically single crochet rows and back ribbed stitches rows. Any help?

I use a row counter that I click after each row is completed.  Some stitches are easy to count rows I find others more challenging as the stitches blend more between rows.  I believer there are even free apps for the phone.

I use the starting tail, too as a hint.........find it, call it one and odd numbers if it's on your right....or left........make paper notes.......
