Question

my I am an experienced crocheter, however when making an adult v-neck poncho in the round, when I tried it on the shoulders were so tight and the neck just looked wrong. I always count my stitches so I have no idea what I did wrong. Would using a larger needle work?  I used a J that pattern called for. Using a washable wool blend worsted. Thanks for any advice or corrections.

What's the pattern name - can you link to the pattern, or a photo of what it looks like if it's not free?  But I agree, a bigger hook might help, depending on the issue.

I've seen some ponchos/capes that are made sort of like a top down raglan sweater but the raglan increases just keep going without sleeves; if this is the style, doubling up on the increases every other row (or some scheme) at the beginning should help with the shoulder tightness.
