How to add tops to crocheted slipper soles

kaharrison3

Question

Several years ago I had a pattern for crocheted slippers that started with thick soles made with double yarn & then added tops.  Then I got a pair of kittens & put away my yarn until they were old enough to let it be while I worked.  Now I seem to have lost the pattern.  I don't care that much what the top looks like (it doesn't have to be the same as the old pattern) but I need some kind of help to get me going, as I am not good enough to wing it.  The soles are foot shaped, heel, then a bit narrower, then widen for the toes.  I have both of them finished & hate to throw them away.

So you only have the soles so far, and you need to form the sides and then the sort of half-oval top that covers the top of your foot?

Do you think you could wing the part you haven't made yet, it If I find a similar pattern?  In other words, the concept would be the same for the sides and top but the stitch counts wouldn't be?  I'll take a look and see what I can find...

edit, oops - what yarn weight?  US#4 medium, like Red Heart Super Saver?

http://www.crochetandknitting.com/mocslip.htm  I think the whole thing may be double strands

https://www.crochetandknitting.com/slpprs8.htm  says 'for beginners', looks warm

https://littlejohnsyarn.com/classic-crochet-loafers-free-pattern/  basic and straightforward looking

Omas slippers were pretty popular years back double yarned soles, slipper in assorted sizes can’t remember designer name at the moment. A general search and then check images might bring the pattern u used up.
