Single crochet join between hdc chain one

Hi I am joining granny squares with a single crochet join through both loops, what should I do in the chain space of hdc, ch1,

do I put 2 single crochet in this chain space? I can’t see a stitch leg to crochet into?

Welcome to the 'ville!  I assume this chain space is the corner, right? (interesting, never seen it done this way but it's pretty clever).   I assume you did not crochet into the chain and HDC to put 2 'granny shells' into the corner.  You'd want to put your SC seam around the chain like you put the corner granny shells around the 'chain' space.

Seems like I have worked a square pattern that for the final corner it has you use a hdc but I cant remember the pattern or process if this is what you are referring to but I wasnt the one that joined them.   You are going to have to line your squares up and just do what fits/looks best to you.  2 sc in that space sounds like a good starting point.

Hi thanks for your replies!  I think I’m meant to single crochet through one loop on each side which means I don’t have to worry about the underneath of the hdc, chain 1 anymore Thanks for your answers!! : )
