What does this mean?

Wool98

Question

Hi all,

I just need some clarification on these instructions for a pattern I am about to make.

***Written in American Standard Terms.

SC= single crochet

HDC= half double crochet

SK= skip

Row 1. In 3rd CH from hook, SC+HDC. (SK next ST, SC+HDC in next ST) across.

So does this mean that I need to do a single crochet and a half double crochet in one chain, then skip a stitch, then do a single crochet and a half double crochet in the next stitch, repeating this until the very end of the row?

:)

I think that's right, though I've never seen it written like that. Ch whatever # chs it says, then work 1 sc and 1 hdc in the 3rd ch from hook. You put 2 sts in 1 ch. Since this is worked in the foundation ch, it should say (sk next ch, sc and hdc in next ch). You repeat (sk next ch, sc and hdc in next ch) to the end of the ch, you should end with 2 sts in the last ch. I hope this helps.
