However, I do VERY little Tunisian, and those few projects have been just Tunisian Simple Stitch. 

Looking at your sample, the the last few rows are definitely Tunisian Simple Stitch, and the first few aren't but look somewhat like TPS, but maybe not quite (I'm not sure). 

All I can suggest is that you find another tutorial or video on just Tunisian Purl stitch.  I've been re-learning to knit the past few years (after barely learning the basics when I was a kid decades ago) and sometimes I have to watch more than one for a new stitch or technique to 'click' in my head, just by hearing/seeing the same thing a slightly different way.
