Help with direction in pattern

HI there,

Thanks for checking out this question I have.  I am working on a blanket and am very stumped by the wording of a certain direction - "sl st around beg ch. 4 of prev round".   Do you have any insights on what I'm going around? Do I make a sl st in the very first chain of the ch 4? (This doesn't make sense b/c the end of the previous round as me "join in the 3rd chain of the beg ch 4").  Any help would be greatly appreciated! 😻

Hi, welcome to the Ville !  My guess is that you are to sl st around (not into) the beginning chain just above where you already did the sl st into the third ch.  in other words, sl st around the fourth ch of the beg ch, the top ch.  

does that make sense in the context of the pattern?

Thanks magiccrochetfan!  Your answer makes sense, but it honestly seems unnecessary to do (though I'm sure the pattern maker had their reasons).  I'll give this a go and post and update.

Wow, I am so late in getting back to you - I dislike being that person, sorry.  It was actually a pattern from a book - "Big Book of Crochet Afghans" by Connie Ellison.  I ended up ditching that pattern and using one that I could understand and work, with a similarish end result.
