Knitting problem (loosing stitches under armholes)

Hello, I have a problem when I knit the armholes, (or similar works or even the final edges of items) the part 'below' looks always 'loosing' and like some holes...
(this is a doll cardigan's sample)
How to improve this?

I always just fill the gaps with the ends of the thread from joining.  Same with mitten thumbs.  Good luck!

Thank you for the info! And yes, tiny knitted items for dolls looks in the same measurements of mitten's thumbs! So good idea!
