Brioche is on my list of techniques to learn so I can't offer stitch advice.  Bgs found a sweater, here's one of many free brioche sock patterns on Ravelry - some looked REALLY complicated, this is cute and a simpler looking pattern than most, might be a good one to start with.

Edit, I just looked closer, the pattern calls the flower 'English rib' which is apparently the same as 'Fisherman's rib' which is brioche...I think, or so Google tells me??  Anyway there are many other free socks that come up if you search for 'brioche socks' in Ravelry.

You can also see this pattern for socks.

This looks fascinating.  I do not know how to do this stitch, but I am going to put it on my to learn list.
