Help for newbie!

Dibs

Question

Can someone help me. I am brand new to reading patterns. Does round 3 mean that I do 2 double crochets into the first stotch and then three into the second stitch, repeated like that until the end of the round?

Then round 4: do 3 double crochets into the first stitch and 4 into the next stitch repeated in that pattern all the way round?

When I do that I have far more stitches at the end of each round than it says I should have. I am very confused. Any help greatly appreciated xxx

Welcome to the 'ville!

As a general rule, if the pattern tells you to make x stitches but doesn't tell you where to put them, you put 1 stitch into 1 stitch (without skipping stitches or putting many stitches into 1 stitch).

So rnd 3 would be: *1 dc into each of the next 2 stitches, dc2inc into the next stitch (meaning, over 3 stitches you will make 4).

Round 4 is the same, except 1 stitch into each of the next 3 stitches, then increase.
