Curls71085

Question

want to create a table runner using all different stitches.  Maybe every 2 rows change the stitch.

Row 1 and 2 hdc

Row 3 and 4 puff stitch

Row 5 and 6 basket weave

Just to give you an idea.  What type of stitches work really well for something like this.  I'm list but I got this idea in my head. Help!!!!  Thanks

Have you decided if you will be working in one color or multiple colors, thread or yarn and what weight?   Here is a blanket done in multiple stitches to look at if you have a Ravelry account which is free if you want to sign up.

This goes to her blog

You have so many options and will have to what looks pleasing to you.

For a table runner (unless it's only for decoration) you may not want something lumpy like a puff stitch if this is going to be used to put glassware, or something that might wobble or tip over might on it.

Some stitch patterns cover more than 1 stitch, example a shell stitch, and basketweave, and puff stitch (you'd want to put some plain number of stitches between the puffs).  This requires some careful plotting for it to come out right, you can't just grab your hook and go.  And if you did puffs for example, you probably wouldn't want to stack them on top of each other, you'd probably want to stagger them so a puff in 1 row is halfway between puffs in another row (hint, you need an odd number in your repeat to do this).
