granny squares work and chat friends 2020 new thread

We do not even have a towel paper in stores here or tissue. I think many people bought all of that because of shortage on toilet paper.

I just want share something with you about tissue paper & toilets. Tissue paper might clog up your toilet. After my son was born I used a lot of tissue paper to wipe him. I was flushing that in my master bedroom washroom. It seemed to work grate for a while. Than out of nowhere I got a big "flood" in that washroom and a LOT that dirty "stuff" came out on carpet in my bedroom.  Because of that we had to replace carpet in that room.

That plumber told us that tissue paper dos NOT dissolve in water like a toilet paper.

Another beautiful day in Florida.

A few more rows and the afghan is done.  Then it is on to finish a doll dress I started.  Getting ready to switch over to small projects, as it will soon get to humid to work with yarn.

We are into the 80's, but what is beautiful is NO HUMIDITY.

Just wanted to check in before I make breakfast.  Pork Roll and egg sandwich.

Good morning all!

Well, the decision is to keep the daycare/preschool open but making the day 2 hours shorter. I will be covering for one of the toddler room teachers all week.

Not sure what I am going to work on this weekend. Since DH nolonger has to study I promised him complete control of the tv to watch Dr. Who (all 50+years).

It is going to be very strange for me to not go to Church this weekend, Im feeling very unsettled.

Ratdog you had me laughing about the Dr. Who.  We have been watching Chuck on Prime.  Not sure how many years that is.  We are also DVRing Law & Order, and some of them are from the first year.

Ok I know it has been a long time since I went to a movie, but I begin to wonder what it cost for a ticket.  I am asking, because VUDU and Amazon are offering new movies still in the Movie Theaters, to watch on line.  Problem is, they want $19.99 to watch the movie.  I almost fell off my chair when I saw that price.  Of course the 4 they are offering are not ones I would watch, but it still seems outragious.

Got out water delivery today and it was not due till Monday.  So I guess they are getting out as much as they can.  It would of been nice to know, I would of opened the garage door.  He put down 3 cases at the front door, rang and bell and I was able to catch him before he put the rest there.  I got 8 cases and they are to heavy for me or DH to move.  I was able to get him to put the rest in the garage and get the three from the front door.  It would of been nice to get notice, but luckily he rang the bell before he brought them all up.

Hey clouds showed up, but no rain expected.  We could sure use some to get rid of some of the pollen in the air.

Off to see what trouble I can get in trouble on line.

well same old stuff, different day huh  we are still sheltering in, as we expect there will be a national lockdown soon  for all states  i guess that is our only defense right now I cant believe they locked down california, sheesh huh

i find it hard to concentrate on much else these days, so my crochet seems to be on hold till further notice, so i clean a lot, and color sometimes and play luxor on my laptop, and and and lol

we expect a national state wide lock down soon, one person designated out of the household to do the store thing if necessary..

shortages of everything, store shelves are emptying quickly, and supplies trucks are running at least a week or more behind, to refill the shelves when available

the economy is crashing, hospitals out of room, and supplies, and staff, nothing is really being done    if you are 55 and older, you are high risk

no where to go, no where, safest in home i guess, our only defense so far  if you are not worried, you are not human  this will affect everyone and is estimated that each of us, before this is over, will know someone we care for, a friend, a neighbor, a relative that will die from this, scared, is justified, totally

ok in other news, i think, or have deduced,  from scant info available  hat Pam has corona and will be in hospital for several weeks with serious complications I understand,

so squares are on hold till further notice  i wish i could sew masks, but as you know gave away my machine darn it  so like i said i am on alert, i am trying to stay somewhat occupied, and still, it is always there you know

stay safe, stay in if you can, tak care of each other ok

Movie tickets are anywhere from $7-$12 around here. So I can see a family of 4 or 5 renting Frozen 2 or Onward for the kids. But for just my husband and I , no $20 is too much for a movie at home.

yes please!!

news from daughter, said her temp has to be normal for 24 hours at least  , hers has not yet been normal that long.. she doesn't mind working at home, so shes ok  at least she is one of the luckier ones to do that huh  after her temp stays normal for 24 hours, she still has to stay quarantined for 7 more days! so it might be a while lol she has mild symptoms, some diarrhea and a breathing thing earlier, but it passed and she just feels tired  they are watching hubbys temp now too, both sheltering in place so as not to spread anything  she is in good spirits, kind of enjoying her home-work lol and her appitite is normal

Good Morning.

I have been up for over an hour. Did my Bible reading and prayed I'm trying to be quiet since I have my 2 oldest grandkids with me for a few days and they are still sleeping. We'll just be hanging around the house and out in the yard but they are content with that. My grandson went swimming yesterday, I personally think the water is still too cold but he enjoyed it. My daughter who is a nurse has asked me to make her some masks. They are not completely out of them in her unit at the hospital but are getting low, so that is my sewing project this weekend.  That's the update from my corner of the world.

I hope you all have a good day.

CShort, Joanns website has information on how to make those masks.

I am up , listened to the Mass readings online and made a prayer of spiritual communion. So strange not being able to attend Mass.

I am working on a small teddy bear for donation. Just have to embroider the face and maybe add a bow tie or ribbon to dress it up.

I am scheduled to work every day this week.

Cold but sunny today and it just feels better when the sun is shining.  We are looking at snow later on in the week.  I guess we won't need to worry about a snow emergency.

Put the St. Patrick's Day decorations away yesterday and started putting out the Easter stuff.  Hoping to make some progress on Easter projects today.

I spent time with sis on Fri and Sat so niece could track down supplies to take care of her mom and do what she needed to do.  The wound/ostomy nurses kept saying sis needed a different skin barrier for her ostomy bag and would send them home but nope they never even went and got that one to put on her there.  Niece is doing a great job on changing the dressings, administering the antibiotic thru the picc line, emptying the foley catheter, and has replaced the skin barrier and ostomy bag.  She wanted me there for her first time changing out the barrier and bag.  Sis seems to be doing okay.  She doesnt have much of an appetite.  I got pretty tired and am glad to get a couple of days off.  Meanwhile a shelter in place order goes into effect in our county along with 2 more in MO and 4 in KS Tues.  Also starting tomorrow governor has ordered no visitors in retirement communities.  I am going to have to help out with sis as she can not be left alone but that is one of the exceptions allowed for being out.  Guess dh will need to take care of mowing and weedeating for her.

It was a gloomy rainy day.  I did not do anything constructive today.  Church was on fb (dh finally joined but I havent).   I mostly just watched movies on tv.

Good morning all!  Plans changed and I am not working so I will work on finishing the bears and reading a bit today.

DH has to work but now all patients coming to the office will be screened for fever. He works with arthritis patients so they have chronic, non emergency, non infectious conditions. Patients, for whom it os appropriate, are also being given the choice of a telephone visit instead of coming in to the office.

MA has joined NY closing all but "essential" businesses.  Take out, grocery stores, pharmacies, and various other items still open but those businesses that hadn't moved to work from home are now not having the option to stay open.  We are expecting a snow storm so that should just make people even more joyful to manage.

Hello,

Brenda I hope you get some rest.

Lyn we're still being told schools will be closed until April 15th but I think it's going to be longer. I would love to be back in my classroom.

Today was tech frustration overload. My mom needed an app downloaded on to my dad's phone so her appointment with the pain specialist could be done via the phone and she didn't have to leave the house. Then I attended a webinar on a remote teaching program our school district is using and I'm still as confused as before watched it. I can watch it again tomorrow but I think I might just go with emails and a communication app/site to communicate with parents and students. Ok enough grumbling. I'm going to relax on the sofa with grandkids, watch a movie and maybe crochet a little.

I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Finished the two bears but I think they need t-shirts or bow ties.

Read a bit more of my book today. More of the same tomorrow.

Here for the most part counties are the ones imposing stay at home.  Those counties had already imposed school closures and groups less than 10 about a week or more before the governor imposed them statewide. Things are getting interesting here and I am wondering how some of these people are getting by.  Last week they stopped transport to grocery stores.  The restaurants went to carryout only but that has been restricted even more like a restaurant now will only provide carryout to residents that live in same building   as restaurant leaving people like us having to order off the village meal delivery service in order to use our dining credit. That sucks to have to pay the delivery fee when we can easily pick it up and the menu is mostly pizza, sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and a couple of salads.  Its not a menu I look forward to long term should this continue past the 30 days.   We have plenty of food in house and can go to store but the dining credit is built into our monthly fee and is use it or lose it and it wasnt something you could opt out of and get cheaper rates.

I need to go help with sis tomorrow so niece can go do things. Today sis got stitches removed in her leg from knee replacement surgery that were due to come out 10 days ago. She really doesnt want to eat and her potassium ran low whole time she was in hospital.  The potassium tablets that are available for outpatients take so long to dissolve they wind up in her ostomy bag pretty well intact.  Also struggling with finding right setup with ostomy supplies as the skin barriers are not sealing so having to really watch that no poop makes it over to incision area which is so close that incision dressing tape has to go over part of skin barrier.  This is a really horrible time to need medical help.  At least dh found canned peaches for her at our grocery store.  Its the one thing she will eat and nieces store was out when she looked for them.

Love the bears Ratdog.

Keeping you and your sister in my thoughts.  Hope she feels better soon and will eat.

Just dropping in to say Hi.  Got up early to put the trash out.

Walmart has hours for Seniors from 6AM to 7AM.  The local grocery is 7AM to 8AM.  Both are a little early for me.  Both are Tuesday with Wednesday also for the local grocery.

Not much more going on here.

Try and have a fun day.
