Color change l

When changing color mid row, is the color added to the last stitch considered the first stitch of the new color or still the last stitch of the previous color?  Please help!

When you finish the last pull-thru of the old color by using the new color, the new color is the top of the new stitch.

Crochet stitches have a skew to them, the top of the stitch is a little to the right of the body of the stitch.  If you have ever worked in the round, same side facing, you may have noticed that the stitches lean to the right--it's the nature of the crochet stitch, 'their heads are on crooked'.
