Mittens

ReniC

Question

Anyone know of a (free) pattern for adult mittens made with 3 weight or Sport yarn?

My 90 year old neighbor is in need of one to make mittens for a women's shelter she sponsors in Chicago. I told her if I find one I'd help her make them. 😱 I haven't made mittens in years.

Maybe one of these...hard to find real mittens versus fingerless mitts, which are OK where I am with mild winters but probably not Chicago...

DK weight

Thank you Granny Square. I will definitely show all these to my friend. I personnally like the pattern by Drops titled "Rani". Looks fast and easy.

That was a nice one - a little lace at the cuff, but not too fancy.  In DC too, would work up quickly.

That's exactly what my friend said! She's making a pair now. I'll get started on them after Christmas. I'm still bogged down making my own gifts and not advancing like I had hoped. But, that's ok.

Needless to say, I was not helpful at all to my neighbor making mittens since my hubby had to go in the hospital with pneumonia again. I'm so grateful my neighbor is understanding. She made 15 pairs of the Drops/Garns Studio mittens titled Rani and shipped them out. She's such a sweetie. Hubby is home now and doing much better compared to a week ago.  I've not been able to crochet much through these holidays and will keep looking forward to better days.

Happy New Year's good people.

Thank you for your kind thoughts Granny Square. Hubby's cancer is growing again so we are heading back to Mayo mid-month. I hate the drive, but, it is well worth it for him. I get to crochet while he has all his tests and labs done, so I have that to look forward to. I'm thinking I may start a Fortune's Shawlette for my middle daughter. Just a thought for now.

Oh no Reni, sending healing thoughts and strength to your hubby.  And good-road vibes, Arizona to Minnesota in January, yikes. :hug

You are very kind with such good thoughts. Thank you. Fortunate for us, Mayo Clinic and Hospital also has a huge facility in Phoenix and Scottsdale. So, only a 4 hour drive down. Heaven forbid a drive to Minnesota this time of year! LOL

Oh, phew, that's a relief.  I was thinking, as if you didn't have enough going on,  to have such a ?!? trip to worry about.

The shawl is lovely, by the way :yes

LOL! I would have thought the exact same thing.

I concur about the shawl. It's a great conversation starter too, especially if it's in a beautiful color yarn. But, crochet is like that. 😀
