What does this part mean?

Noobieboogie

Question

"Work about 3 sts over a 2 hdc row space." ?

I'm trying to make this beanie, but can't find any other tutorial for it. I finished the band part, but starting the body is challenging for me. Maybe it's just the wording? Is there another way of phrasing it?

Thank you for any help and guidance.

So, you made the ribbing, of however many rows it took you to get 15" (do make sure that fits your head comfortably, stretched, before you sew it into a band).

Now, you are going to work into 1 side of the ribbing, making 72 stitches into the side of X rows.  "Work about 3 sts over a 2 hdc row space" just means that the designer estimates that 'about' that number of stitches per row should work, but you should do the math to figure that out yourself,  for your piece.  "Row space" means the side of 1 row, where you'll be putting your stitches.  Example, if you had 24 rows, that works out perfectly (24x3=72).  If you had some other number of rows, you may have to 'mostly' put 3 into each row, and every so often put 2 or 4, trying to distribute the odd increments evenly around.
