Oh that is very pretty!  I might have to try that one too.  My teenage daughter liked that cross-stitch square in the front.  So I'm still on the hunt for it.

Where did the photo come from? It's easier to locate a pattern if we have a link to where any photos came from. One other note; this looks knit to me.

Agree, it's definitely knitted.  Since you're looking mostly for the middle part, maybe borrow the stitch patter from this hat?

I'm a better crocheter than knitter, and have knit something with that single thread lattice look, but I've never seen it in crochet and can't imagine how you'd do it.  2 loops yes, but not one.
