Spuirrel Potholders

I got the new Crochet World and they finally have some patterns that I wanted to make.  One was a squirrel potholder, it was cute and I thought how hard could it be?  I have worked with graphs before.

It is made in the round.  By the time it was finished, I had a gazillion ends to sew in.  Nope, nada, not again.

Then I made one that was done in two parts.  One side was the squirrel and the nuts, the other was a plain back.  I like the second version better, very little ends to sew in.

So here is the result of both ways.

The first picture is my way of making the pattern, and the second one is their way.

Very nice!  Is 'their way' the waistcoat stitch?  That's on my 'to do' list to try someday.

Yeah that is the stitch.  It never looks the same when I do it.  I find it easier to do with yarn instead of cotton.

Nice job Mary Jo.  I liked it when I saw it in the magazine but after studying the pattern I thought that was going to be an awful lot of ends to work in on a potholder if worked as written.
