Unclear directions

I’m using N hook with Homespun Thick & Quick yarn. My problem is that I don’t understand the last bit of round 1 where it says “hdc in top of beginning ch-2 - 4 corner ch-2 space”. It’s tge “4 corner” direction that has me perplexed—what is it asking me to do? I added a picture of the directions. Thanks!

Some patterns give you a sanity check stitch count at the end of each round.  This pattern does, and is just saying "all the stuff before the dash will result in 4 corners comprised of chain-2 spaces".  So if you have 3 or 5 corners, you know you went wrong somewhere.
