Is yarn amount correct in pattern?

Question

This pattern calls for 3 skeins each of two colors. I can't grasp how with the border in one color and the body in stripes that it wouldn't take more of the border color. Even is you used only a smidgen of the third skein on the stripes, it doesn't seem like that would be enough it make the border.

Any thoughts?

Yarn=186 yards per skein x 6 = 1116 yards      Shawl=68" long x 17" wide  (68"= 5 feet 8 inches)

I don't think that yardage sounds inadequate.  If you think about it, looking at the shape on the pattern diagram, (17" is only the wide center part, it tapers to nothing at the ends--so you could say the average depth is about 9"), it would take about 3 or 4 shawls lined up to "make" a couch afghan, and those usually use about 2500-3000 yards, so...sounds about right?

If it were me, tho, I'd probably buy an extra skein of the edge color just in case...it could always end up a hat or something.  My 'stash' is all assorted 'bought a little extra' balls  ;)
