How to work remaining sc

lilmismia

Question

Hello,

I am starting a pattern and it asks to start with

"2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 8 chains, 4 sc in last ch, now work stitches on the other side of the chain in the remaining looks: sc in next 8 loops, 2 sc in last loop. (24 sc)"

I am having a hard time understanding it. Steps I took:

- 1 sc + 1 sc in the second ch from hook

- 1 sc on the next 8 chains

- 1 sc + 1 sc + 1sc + 1sc on the last chain

(now comes the part where I am confused unless I did the top wrong..)

Can some help me understand what to do next when I turn it over? And how to do the remaining 24 sc?

Thank you!!!!

M

Welcome to Crochetville!

The (24sc) is not an instruction. It is a stitch count. When you finish round 1's instructions, you'll have made 24 sc stitches. Count them to make sure they match the pattern's stitch count.

You're making an oval. When you put 4 sc in the last chain, they form a rounded end. As you make them, rotate your project so that the bottoms of the chain are now on top. The easiest way to do this is to lay it on a table. Without picking it up, rotate your work so that the stitches you did are on the bottom.

Chains have 3 strands of yarn. You used 1 or 2 when you made 8 sc. Now insert your hook in the remaining strand(s) to make the next 8 sc stitches.
