RH butterfly throw

Jennie1031

Question

I am on row 3,& it says ch 3 (counts as first dc here & throughout),3 dc in each ch-3 space across, dc in last sc, turn.

So, where it says ch 3 & it counts as first dc, does that mean I ch 3 each time? If I do this, it leaves a big gap/hole.

Also, when I do 3 dc in each ch-3, it seems like there are too many stitches/making the row seem longer than the one before it.

thanks!

the patterns tells you where to begin the row with a chain 3.  but if you don't like that there are other ways to start a row.  my favorite is the "chainless" starting dc

this works great for me, though it took a little time to learn it.

some people like to chain 2 and then make a dc into the first stitch.  or make an sc then chain 1 or 2 and count  that as the first dc.  i think there may be some other ways and i'm sure someone will post about them.

if your rows are growing wider, have you counted your stitches?  if the count is correct then i may be that your beginning chain was too tight and you'll have to start over with a bigger hook for the foundation chain.
