Baby Beard NO Bobble

I want to make a beard for a baby (12 mos) to match his father's straight beard and can't find a pattern without bobbles. I've only found a KNIT pattern.

Here is one at Ravelry, you have to be a member if you can't see it.  There is a link to etsy for the pattern however it isn't available.  I'm linking the page any way because she has photos that maybe you can look at and wing it.  Be sure to click the photos to enlarge them.

This one looks like it is made with half doubles.  I believe it is the yarn giving it texture.  You could use the yarn or something different if you don't want the texture.  And of course any colors you want.
