Spiral cap twisted double crochet cross stitch

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me:). I recently bought the Spiral Cap pattern by Tatyana Mirer but I can not figure out the special stitches. Twisted double crochet foundation and the twisted cross stitch.

I don't have the book, but from the comments by those on Ravelry who have made the hat, many mentioned an initial confusion but managed to work it out.  Some mentioned that their confusion was cleared up by realizing that you work into the chain loop from back to front (if you knit, sounds like purling), and the next DC is worked in the same loop but to the right of the first DC.  When you move to the next cluster, the last cluster made will twist.  One mentioned it reminded them of the Divine Hat, which is a free pattern.
