Help with pattern

KabbyDawn

Question

Hi all. I crochet a lot but I always use videos as my patterns. So not s great pattern reader. I'm sure this is a very stupid question but look at the image I attached. It has (10) in parenthesis after the pattern. What is it telling me to repeat? From where? Thx!!

Welcome to Crochetville!

Numbers at the end of instructions are your stitch count.  Different designers use different symbols to indicate that the instructions are done and next is the stitch count(s).  Your pattern's designer used parenthesis.  The first ch 3 is to get to the height of a dc, plus it makes an adjustable ring.  The 10 dc stitches in the 3rd ch will make a circle of dc stitches in the ch.  The ch acts as an adjustable ring.  It'll expand as you add stitches and you can use the tail to pull it closed when you're done with the round. The initial height chain doesn't count as a stitch.  So, you made 10 dc stitches and your stitch count is 10.

Here's a great guide to pattern reading and the symbols ...
