Seeking Postman Pat and Jess the Cat pattern

Ro-Cro

Question

Hi All,

I have been looking for a while now for a Postman Pat and Jess the Cat crochet pattern for a stuffed toy but all i can seem to find anywhere is knitting patterns  :(

If anyone has any ideas or a pattern or even could help me out with converting a knitting pattern to crochet that would be amazing

I didn't know what that was so I googled.  You probably won't find anything because it looks like a licensed thing.

Here is the search for free cat patterns on Ravelry.  Maybe one of them will be close enough you can play with it to get what you want:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#photo=yes&craft=crochet&pc=animal&query=%20Cat&view=captioned_thumbs&availability=free&sort=best

Here is the search for doll.  There is 41 pages so I didn't have time to go through them all.  Maybe you can find something that will work for the postman with some tweaking:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#view=captioned_thumbs&photo=yes&craft=crochet&page=3&availability=free&query=doll&pc=doll&sort=best

If you aren't a member of Ravelry, you'll need to join.

Hope that helps some. :)

There really isn't a way to convert knit to crochet; it would be a complete redesign.  The closest thing to knitting in crochet are slip stitches, but the 'knit look' goes horizontal not vertical, and you still can't just follow a knit pattern and end up with a thing of the same proportion using slip stitches.

Also, looking at the postman - I think you are going to have a hard time finding a crochet doll with fingers.  You're not going to be able to achieve that level of detail of the fingers, lapels, badge unless you use doily cotton or maybe sock yarn.  And the cat, with the white face and tummy, will be challenging to 'wing' on your own.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, just being realistic.  You might consider learning 'knooking' - it is actually producing knit fabric, following a knitting pattern with knitting terms, but using a crochet hook with a string attached at the end (the string acts like the second knitting needle).

I don't think you really need to do fingers but if you want them, this free pattern has them:

This neck pillow looks a lot like that cat even if probably is bigger than you want:

This cat also looks similar and I am guessing smaller:

There are a bunch more.  Just find one that looks about right and change the colors to black and white.  :)
