Good Luck with the calendars Anna.  Hey Lea, are there any donuts left?

I really feel sorry for you guys.  Watching the Pittsburgh game (yeah Steelers), it was 17 degrees or feels like 1 degree up there.  One of the refs whistles froze.  :rofl  The guys announcing said he is pretending the whistle is frozen, so he can get close to the heater on the side.

Off to make dinner.

NO!  lesson learned.....  the number of donuts consumed is directly proportional to the amount of snow we receive...by my new calculations I should have bought 10 bags :rofl :rofl :rofl

No crochet today. DH and I finally tackled our closet.

Took bunches of stuff to goodwill. Added a second shelf above the existing one. Ordered new hangars and shelf dividers that will be here tomorrow.

I cannot believe how much unused clothing I was allowing to live rent free in that closet! Now everything fits with room to spare!

We arrived in Mazatlan Mexico with no problems. We are enjoying highs in the mid 80s and sun. Wish I could send some to those of you freezing in the US. We are here for a couple of weeks then on to The Cabo area for a few weeks.

Before we left home I sent the baby booties to a cousin.....she got them yesterday and loves them! I am still working on the scarf I started several days ago. I haven't decided for sure but I may give it to my MIL as a thank you for getting me started crocheting. She has never made a scarf...only afghans.

I love reading about what everyone is working on...great ideas in here.

I got a little more of the afghan done watching the games yesterday.  Between Football and Hockey, my sports part of the brain is full.

I have to stop and make some granny squares for a couple of friends, then back to the afghan.

Have fun everyone and Wayfairers enjoy your time in the warm weather.

Regarding Valentine's Day crochet.....Years ago I made my grandsons crocheted snakes. I know it doesn't sound very much like Valentine's Day...but they are rowdy boys and they really liked those snakes. They had stuffed heads and a body that twirled around a foundation chain. When you pulled on the tail just right, the snake wiggled. I cannot find the pattern, but possibly someone else remembers the pattern. They were quick and easy.

Other ideas:

Hair ornaments

hats or slippers decorated with heart shapes

Stuffed animals, cars, dolls, etc

A small heart shaped bag

A blanket

Sounds exactly right for St Valentine's day! Shows you love them and pay attention to what they like and not what hallmark and walmart says they should get!

Not to mention the time and effort dedicated to them.

I was going to say a snake or even bugs.  I have yet to find a boy who does not like those things.

Love the shark blanket, can't wait to see it finished.

I have not worked on the afghan for the last 2 days.  Took down Christmas decorations yesterday and today I put up the January ones.

Less to put up, mega to take down.

Still cool, but at least the sun is out.

Have a great day and hugs. all around. :hug  :ghug  :hug

I always try to keep a few handmade dishcloths in my gift drawer, just in case. Here are a couple I made since Christmas.

So pretty! Love the color way!

Might be better off staying away from the scrubby yarn for the kids....I made a scrubby for my husband with it and he said it didn't feel good against his skin - said it felt with he was using an abrasive dish scrubby. Plus, it didn't dry very quickly. I love the snake/bug ideas - they should love that!

I'm still chugging away on the scarf - it is finally starting to look like a scarf. The one I previously made was crocheted from top to bottom so you just stopped when it got long enough. This one started with chains along one side for the entire length so didn't loook much like a scarf at first.

LOVE the color of those washcloths - did you change colors or did the skein come that way?

Hope some of you are starting to get some warmer weather!

Thanks, The yarn is Sugar and Cream stripes in the "country stripes" Colorway. The square one is just plain garterstitch knit, 37 stitches in each row. The round one is also an easy knit, but I'm not sure what pattern I used. I've made it so often that I have it memorized, but it's almost exactly the same as this one:

I love the scrubby yarn for the kitchen - I use some regular cotton with the scrubby - they work great on pots!
