Made up stitch? Help!

atlantisflygirl

Question

I figure I must have learned it somewhere, but now I can't figure out what stitch it might be! I'm a beginner and I'm making a scarf for my mom.

At the end of a row, I chain two and then turn the work (clockwise). I work into the third (?? I'm still working on that bit. But I work into the first v), yo & pull through the first stitch so I have two loops on the hook, yo and pull through two loops on the hook, repeat. The stitch is pretty at least!

TIA for any help! :)

Welcome to Crochetville!

It's called an extended single crochet (exsc).  You're making a chain and sc all in one stitch.

This is also how foundation single crochet (fsc) is done.  FSC can be used to replace a chain foundation and sc first row.  FSC creates a more fluid and even bottom edge than a chain foundation and sc first row.
