Frosted Shells Baby Blanket

FROSTED SHELLS BABY BLANKET

There is no picture as I am blind. this is a simple shell pattern with a twist. The "frosting" shows up like V's between the shells. The next row of shells works over the frosting so all you see are the V's on each side but not at the top.

Size: 36 inches square.

Materials: Lion Brand Pound of Love, 1 ball pink, small amounts lavender and white; H hook; yarn needle.

Note: On row 1, I split the shell up. I work 2 dc in one ch, ch 1, and work the other 2 dc in the next ch. It keeps the work flat without skipping more chs.

Shell: (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in st indicated.

With pink, loosely ch143.

Row 1: 2 Dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch, * skip next 2 chs, 2 dc in next ch, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch; rep from * across, ending skip next ch, dc in last ch; ch 3, turn.

Rows 2 & 3: Shell in ch1 sp of each shell across, dc in top of turning ch; ch 3, turn. At the end of Row 3, drop loop from hook and put a safety pin through it.

Frosting Row 1: Join lavender with sl st in top of beg ch of Row 3; sc in each st and ch sp across. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Rows 4-7: Place loop of pink back on hook; rep Row 2.

Frosting Row 2: Rep as for frosting Row 1, but use white.

Continue in this manner working 4 rows of pink and then frosting it with either lavender or white. Edn with a lavder frosting and 3 rows of pink.

Border:

Rnd 1: Continuing with pink, work a fourth row of shells across, work shells evenly along edge, work shells in Row 1 working through middle of each shell, work shell up other side, join. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Rnd 2: Join white and work sc in each st and ch sp around, increasing at corners to keep work flat. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Rnd 3: Join lavender with sc in any sc, * ch1, sc in nt sc; rep from * around, join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
