The knitting project is sitting on the chair right now.  For some reason I can not seem to get the cable right.  Where you take so many stitches to another dp needle and hold it to the front or back.  For some reason it is not working right in my mind.  I will go back to it soon.

 

Yeah that is part of summer here with the humidity.  We had storms run thru this morning and we are looking for some later. 

 

Have to go and make the meatloaf for dinner tonight.  I can't wait to smell that meat and bbq sauce cooking.

Mary Jo sorry you are having problems with your knitting project. They make knitting and cables look easy on Knit and Crochet Now but not easy enough for me to pick up knitting needles but I have thought about it. Your project looked like it was going to be complicated because 2 colors are involved and the cables are intertwined with the ones next to them and it looked like there was more cabling than straight knitting but since I dont knit I may be wrong on all counts. After you study on it a bit I know you will get it done. Meatloaf sounds good. We both love it.

I have had three different people try to teach me to knit

I have to put it down or those two 12 inch sticks could quickly become four 6 inch sticks,just not in my mental programming

but I really like the look of knit items

There are actually 3 colors involved.  Even with some crochet projects I have to put aside, because for some reason I am messing them up.  I  ignored how they told you to do it and am doing the cables my way and it is turning out better.

 

Storms are coming in.  I can hear the noise.

A- hem. once long ago whilst trying to weed eat I too had so much trouble with one I ended up tossing it into the road and getting in my van to ru nit over however neighbor guy was out so. I didn't run it over lol but I really wanted too. Instead I went around it ON . The way to ace to buy another one lol I was pretty sure that was my last foray into weed eating lol. We have a battery o e now and self or auto strings as you weed eat light easy no fuss no muss. I think neighbor had a good laugh and said to me where ya going laughing and I just kept driving down the road!! you'll see soon enough !! Lol

May I just take a moment and salute all those ladies in history who have gone before me that washed clothes by hand, boiled water for diapers and cooked on wood stoves... drank water with out ice cubes and sewed and knit because they HAD to... that pulled weeds when it was 101 outside and milked cows,carried water and eviscerated chickens in this heat..

 

   Cause obviously... I am a wimp...

 

  Is it wrong to sit in front of the AC in your underwear drinking gallons of sweet tea and refuse to cook?

 Pretty much told dh we were having chips and salsa for dinner, maybe with a side of popcorn....It is still sitting int he 90's around here!!

Hello Everyone!

 

Sorry I've been missing. I came to my daughter's house on Friday (she lives about 35 minutes north of me) thinking I would spend the night, watch the baby on Saturday and go home so I didn't bring my laptop. But my daughter was/is having a lot of back pain so I am still here, but we did take a trip to my house today so I now have my laptop and some more clothes. I'm not sure how long I will be here since it is difficult for my daughter to bend or lean forward which makes if very difficult to take care of the baby, I'm just glad I'm off from work so I can help. I did bring my crocheting with me and I'm working on a baby afghan. I read through all the post but my brain is not remembering much except that its hot every where, I'm not sure what the temperature has been here, its south Florida so its hot   

I guess thats enough rambling and the baby needs a diaper change. Have a great evening.

Mary Jo I forgot it was three colors. Is it worked back and forth shortways with all the colors in play or longways one color at a time? Glad you got it going. It looked confusing to me.

 

Lea glad you made it back. I was starting to worry if you were okay or if you had been blocked. I was much better at roughing it when I was younger but the older I have gotten the more I realized I really like electricity ac and indoor plumbing.

Chips salsa and popcorn all sound good to me. I hope you get away with it. I could get by with it but my dh would insist on a bit more like lettuce and call it salad.

ok sorry girls, but dinner here was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and a veggie dip.  I have been dying for an old fashioned meatloaf.  It was delicious.

 

I just took the trash out and man it is hot out there and it just rain, but you would not know it, as the street is dry already.

 

I had to laugh at the underwear in front of the ac.  I love it.  Hey I remember wanting to do that when we only had fans.

 

Just remember we can take cloths off, wear shorts and short sleeved shirts.  In a week I will be putting up the Gone with the wind table for August.  Imagine having to wear all those cloths, especially in the South.

 

I have just ripped out the who shawl.  I messed up a row and went to fix it, but was losing stitches right and left, so I will start over tomorrow.  I am going to start with a crochet chain, that I can pull out later.  You work across using the 4 colors.  You start with one white, two grey, two white, tow brown and finally one white.  I learned to knit first, when I was about 8, couldn't get the hang of crochet.  I have made argyle sweaters and such.  I even made a vest for my bil with a pheasant on the front crocheted into the vest with embroidery thread.   I just have to get back into the knitting mode.

 

Well, the trash is out and we are watching TV, trying to relax.  Then soon it is pills and off to bed. 

 

Boy I remember when I would stay up all night then got to work.

Our air conditioner fan stopped working today. It's just crazy. She'll come by tomorrow to look at it. It is so darn hot that my migraine kicked in and I have been sick all evening. Went and laid down in front of the fan. I'm a little better right now with a fan blowing on me.

I've had to haul water for drinking, bathing and cooking. Hauled logs and firewood for heating. But I'm spoiled now and need the air on very hot days. I couldn't live the way they did back in the day. And think to Tink they wore long dresses and many layers.

Oh no Sandra not the ac. Hope its an easy fix. Our heatpump quit the first round of heat advisories towards the end of June. I tried to suck it up but it was miserable. I didnt want to go do any work outside because I knew I couldnt run in the house to cool off. And boy was it hot when my little ball of fur wanted her lap time.

 

Katy I got braces for my 40th birthday and cold hurt so I started drinking almost everything at room temperature and still do for the most part. When I get hot I like it chilled a bit from the fridge. We use so little ice that I usually dont have any on hand to put in drinks

 

 

Mary Jo I cant imagine wearing those long dresses petticoats and corsets in the heat. Sorry you had to rip out the shawl. I had to pull apart another little ghan as I am trying to make them work out with the yarn I have. Dummy me for thinking I would be able to augment with the white yarn but no the white in the multicolored yarns looks dirty against it. Then there were the 3 skeins of white that I was going to use in one afghan but each skein was a little different. Right now I am trying to decide whether to pull apart one because I am not sure I like the way the colors are pooling. I get mad at myself for not noticing it sooner.

My daughter and the baby are still sleeping and my son-in-law left for work so I am enjoying a cup of coffee. I think my daughter is planning to make a doctor's appointment today if she is still in pain. Yesterday she called the pain specialist she saw a few years ago but they don't take the insurance she has now. And she kept getting a busy signal when she called her pcp, I wonder if they were having problems with their phones, so she'll try again today. Other than that I don't have plans except for snuggling the little one and maybe a little crocheting.

Good Morning. 

 

Well, the shawl is now back into it's little balls and I will start again, but it will have to wait.  I just noticed what the date was and this morning I went into the cotton room, closed my eyes and said jump into my arms if you want to be a tote.  Hey it worked.

 

So back into crochet mode to get the tote done.

 

Owlvamp do you want just a  certain size small ball, or will any do?  I have some here, that I can't use for much.

 

Going from crochet to knitting is like when you learn a new language.  You think in crochet  , then have to translate it to   knitting.  

 

Picked up the paper and man the heat is something else.

 

Made the meatloaf in the oven.  Still can't being myself to do it in the crock.  It is like making it in the microwave.

 

Well off to see what is going on in the ville.
