Patrick, the one that started it all

My son's friend's mom makes amigurumis to sell. She used to take custom orders but one day she decided to stop and just sell what she crochetted. My son wanted a Patrick and she refused. Knowing that I had some crochet knowledge, my son asked if I could make one for him. I had absolutely no knowledge beyong the basic stitches but decided to try for him. Though I didn't follow a pattern, I learned online to make basic shapes and along the way I learned to read patterns. After this one, all the amis I have made have been from patterns. But I have a special love for this one, because it opened the door to a lovely, addicting hobby.

She might have refused because it's illegal to sell items or patterns of licensed characters without permission.  You can make one for yourself or as a gift.  It's just the profiting from licensed characters that is illegal.
