Ah.  Do you have a way to take a pic of it and post it here?  To post a pic, go to 'more reply options' (bottom right), then in the new screen at the bottom left is a spot to choose a file from your computer, then upload it to the post.

 

Edgings are easy to 'get wrong'.  They should compliment the piece, not clash with it.  It's usually better to err on the side of a simpler edge versus a fancy one.  For a cowl, a simple edging that adds stability would probably work - like a row or 2 of plain SC, a simple picot edge, or Reverse SC.  The last one is simple and IMO very 'finished looking'.
