Peppermint African Flower Hippo & a Giraffe

I have made 3 of these before but always used RHSS but I had someone ask for a smaller one so I used sport yarn for the first time. The RH ones are about 23" and these came out 18" long. She wanted a solid gray and a peppermint starlight one so this is what I came up with. Love the 'baby' hippo size.  

 

Also made a giraffe for another lady. It's RHSS and almost 2 foot tall.

These are also on my list to make!! What size hook do you use? I would have to use RHSS or similar because I just can NOT work with thread! But you do fab work!

Adorable!  I have the pattern for the bear but have not made it yet.  Hmmmm....maybe I need to move this one up on my list of "to-do" projects!

Thanks everyone. They are Heidi Bears patterns on raverly. I've done several (hippo, giraffe, dinosaur, owl and bulldog) with RHSS and an F hook. They come out quite large. You can see pics in my ravelry link in signature and links back to the patterns.

 

I can't use thread either with neuropathy in hands and bad eyes so I used sport weight yarn and an F hook for the 2 smaller ones.

 

The patterns are like 35 pages long. She is very thorough.

Those African flowers look a lot better when made using 2 or 3 different color like you did with the other once. They just show-up better:).

These are really cute.  I have wanted to try out some of the African flower softies for a while.  I think the hippo is one of my favourites...
