There's a pattern named Fanciful Flower Potholders on Delights-Gems site. It is not the pattern you are looking for, but if you read through the tutorial, I think you could figure out what to do to make what you want. I've made this pattern in the past and it was very easy, even though it looked daunting at first.

I did some Googling (helpful hint... when on Pinterest, right click the image and select "search Google for this image" and it will help you!) and it looks like this came from the November 1991 issue of Crochet Fantasy magazine, according to another ISO post here on Crochetville, which got their information from the blog post before it was deleted. I don't see any listed on ebay at the moment, but maybe you can keep an eye out. Good luck!

 

ETA More Googling and it looks like it shows up again in Crochet Fantasy September 1988
