Looking for a similar doily pattern

Recommended Posts

This is kind of an ISO, but not really a specific ISO, so hopefully this is an okay place to post it... I wasn't really sure.  :think

My friend is interested in making this dreamcatcher. She doesn't crochet so she asked me to make a similar doily for the middle. Anybody seen a pattern? I can probably figure it out if I need to, but I'm hoping for a pattern lol I really like the flowers in this one so I'd like to find one close.

If anybody has seen something like this, I'd really appreciate it!  :)

That is very interesting, the way they did the flowers on the last round or 2, gives it an unusual look.  I do not know of a doily pattern like it.  I assume you have looked on Ravelry already; I looked there for dreamcatchers ans "floral doilies" and didnt see anything.  That's not to say there isn't a pattern somewhere of course lol

Another idea, you might be able to locate an edging pattern that consists of flowers, that you could use as the last section of a doily.

the photo was pinned from Brooklynthread, so i went to that site.  they no longer show that particular dreamcatcher, but have another which says it is made by  theEasterdays....which turns out to be an etsy shop and a web site.  they are selling various dreamcatchers for $25-30 each.  I have a feeling they are using vintage doilies that they are able to buy pretty cheaply---or maybe even the doilies made in China that you can get at big box stores.

All of the floral doilies I came up with had 3 dimensional, Irish crochet type flowers in them or something similar. I'm pretty sure I've seen this edging or a close one in one of my crochet reference books. Just a matter of hunting it down!

Thanks!  :)

Huh, that is different. I'm pretty sure I have seen some doilies with flat flowers at the edge, but you make18 little flowers first  (in your example) , and attach them with the last round of the doily.  I will do some looking, too.

edit, found some but you will need log-ons to Celt's Yahoo group

flowers are made after, and joined as you go to the doily and the next flower.  You could use just the flower part to put around any doily.  This pattern, with so many chain loops, would be easy to fudge size-wise to fit the dream catcher ring.

doily not so adjustable, maybe

a bunch of edgings, not all are flowers but  some may work as an edge to another doily.
