Place Stitch

Would someone explain to me and some others who are confused as to where that first stitch goes.  Where to make your first stitch, when a pattern says.  Turn work, Ch 3, 1 DC at base of turning chain. ?

when you look at the turning chain, it is arising out of a stitch.  it sort of comes out of the side of the stitch.  the first stitch goes into that stitch that the turning chain arises from.  this will be the first stitch in the previous row, it is the last stitch you made in that row before you turned.
