That Braided Thing

I first saw this technique of braiding when I did the Ups and Downs hat and loved it. 

 

I then saw a pin that uses a different technique to create the strands.

note - those are hdc not dc :blush

 

My first effort was really just to get the idea fixed in my little pea brain so I made the headband in cotton. it works on [3sc, ch9, 3sc]

 

for the double braid cowl I wanted to expand the technique and it does work.  this works on [6sc, ch12, 6sc, ch12, 6sc]  I rather like the cowl.

 

I may try something else in this technique but I have to see a need for it first :wlol

 

I encourage y'all to try it.

it is a further extrapolation on that concept.  JL only uses chain stitches and doesn't really carry the oomph that worked stitches can make.
