What programs do y'all use to write up your crochet patterns?

I'm wanting to write up patterns to sell on sites like Etsy and Ravelry but I'm not sure what to use. It's just words and pictures (no charts so I don't need a chart generator). I'd prefer free but if I have to pay I'd prefer a one time payment and not a monthly one. Thanks y'all!

Do you have MS Word, or have you used them or similar?  Word exports to PDF.  If not, there is a free program called Open Office that has creates files in Word, Excel, etc. formats, and can also export to PDF.
