Slip stitch - what am I doing wrong?!

csf97

Question

The directions for the baby booties I am making say to slip stitch the last row. On the pattern example it makes a nice finished contrasting edge of little "v's" on the top. When I do my slip stitches the "v's" end up on the inside edge of the bootie and there's a straight stitch on the outside.

I'm inserting my hook where the next stitch would go if I were making any other stitch, yarning over, then pulling through the loop on the hook.

The photo shows the original pattern photo on the left and my effort on the right.

Please help me understand what I am not doing right.

Thanks!!

It looks like you're working them inside out and not from the outside all along the booty.:)

So do I need to insert the hook from the outside toward the inside and work left to right instead of right to left?

if you are right handed and normally work r to l, i would not try to work in the reverse direction.  you can probably just turn the bootie around so you are facing the other side of it.
