chenille yarn

I have 2 skeins of chenille yarn I bought a couple of years ago.  It is hand dyed..so does that make it cotton based?  Here are pictures of the 2 skeins

I would think it's cotton, because it's not likely to be any kind of wool.  Acrylic can only be dyed in factories by a commercial process.

If you google "how to test yarn content" you will get results on how to do a burn test.  (I can't link to my search results for some reason).

 

Chenille yarn can also be made out of rayon....

Most of the chenille I have used has been rayon "fuzzies" over a cotton thread.

Can rayon be hand dyed? I thought only natural fibers can be done with home processes.
