How to get rid of that noticeable slip stitch?

I am currently making a beanie and am on the 8th row. I have started to notice that the slip stitch is very obvious and looks bad. Is there any other way to join rows without it being noticeable? I attached a picture that shows it.

Turn each round.  That'll make the line where the slip stitches are less noticeable.

 

OR do your slip stitch one stitch early to compensate for the lean.

For a hat, you could do it in a spiral, if you mark the the beginning of the row, so that you know where the next row starts for the increases.
