need ideas for engagement gift for son

Son was engaged a few months ago. In a few months his fiancees family are giving them an engagement party in another state....(I will not be attending). My son and I have always been close and want something special.

 

They will be married in about 3 years and their colors are light blue/light green. I thought of making the tree of life afghan (maybe)  in off white and border it with their colors........anyone have any other ideas?

That sounds pretty.  It is hard to figure out a special gift, but you can not go wrong with the tree of life afghan.

I love your idea!... I also saw a pattern for an afghan of "interlocking rings". I always wanted to do it; but never really had the chance to. ... I am sure that WHATEVER you do, it will be cherished forever by your son and future daughter-in-law. (Congratulations to your family by the way!)

Yes the tree of life is a great idea.  Not sure where you live but if it's cold, cute matching hat and scarfs might be something they will enjoy while you're finishing the blanket.
