How many can I work on at once?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so as a teacher at Jo-Ann's, I have to make samples for my classes. I haven't even finished the level II granny square poncho, and they go and change the project again for the winter to an afghan... so in the middle of poncho-land, I picked up some yarn to make a small afghan example, as I don't have the money to make the full thing.

But, last night I decided I wanted to be a Hogwarts student for Halloween (we get to dress up on the weekends in October at the store), so of course I need a scarf... which I started last night.

...then there's the plaid scarf I started last winter... still sitting in the bag...

*sigh*

how funny - i get bored and move on --- well, maybe not as bored as anxious.

in all honesty, i bet i have at least 12 things going right now.:faint

this is my justification: when something gets a little more than 1/2 way complete - i make myself work on that until it's done. sort of 'prioritizing' it. :shrug

although, right now, i'm really trying to trim down on my WIPs because i have other things i want to start... and i've promised myself not to start anymore until i'm done with Christmas gifts.:nono

we'll see..........:P

Let's see, I generally have at least a half dozen projects going at any one time. I get bored with doing the same one forever. I have a diagonal box stitch afghan done with two strands in the very final stages, a hat about half done, a granny square baby blanket about 2/3 done, a vest from wool I quit working on over the summer, and a kittens in a row afghan that probably will get frogged. I always try to have a big project going and several small ones so I can fulfil the need for instant gratification. mmouseplus.gif

i am a multiproject kind of girl.. i do a rotation and give each project equal time and it really works..

here is what i do ... i pick a small , medium, and large project.. work each project two hours at a time.. as a finish one i start another ..

so as i finish the large project.. chances are i have completed about 5 to 7 small things and 3 to 5 medium things in the process..

i dont get bored and i feel very productive

I usually have two or three things going at the same time, but when one of them gets close to finishing I stop the others and concentrate on that one.

I think I have nine going on right now. :o If one project gets tedious, I will jump to the other.

Sometimes, if is a big project, like a table runner or afghan, I get sick of looking at it :loco , so I move to the other projects I have going on. Those other projects are usually smaller projects that don't take much time to finish. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. :danc When I am working on big projects, it seems as though it will never end. That is why I always have something small going on at the same time.

Problem now is, I have lots of small project going on at once! :eek2 At least I can't say I have nothing to do! :wink

I usually have about 6 projects in the works too, and although I never "officially" divided them up as sm, med, large, that's what they are. I have a hard time working on the large's though--I prefer the sm and med.

I love how you work on yours, 3 olive, I need to try that.....

Oh dear...

I have many, many things going at once <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/oops.gif" />

I get the big thrill when I start something. Then I either get bored halfway through or get hung up on the little finishing touches. I have 2 shawls sitting here that would be done if I would just weave in my ends and make the tassels (or fringe...can't decide).

I'm so bad!!!

I cant just have one or even two projects going on at a time, I must have at least 3 or 4. Not that I TRY to have more than 2 going on at once, but that's just what ends up happening. I like being able to choose "what will I work on today" instead of having just one project.

That's what it is... I get bored. I'm an aries... we get all gung ho about a project, dive in head first... and then something shinier comes along... LOL!

(In listing my projects, I should mention that I stuck only with the crochet projects in the works... I left out the side business doing custom jewelry, the rag quilt sample I need to finish for that class, a wreath sample I need to make for another class, and making my Hogwarts robe... LOL! I guess with so many hobbies, I never get bored!! )

lets see, I have An afghan going. I need to put lace in a baby sweater bonnet and booties. I am working on a vest for my Mom. A top for me. I have yarn to start a felted purse. I want to make some baby things before Christmas. (yah, right) And I have tons of partly done projects waiting to be finished. I just finished three scarves. (new ones, they should be on my site in a day or so!)

So I'd better go work on them!

I get bored, too, and I'm like Holly. I'll get something almost finished, then be unable to make myself do the little details, like fringe. I have a scarf right now that needs fringing, another that needs about two more rows and then weaving in, another that needs frogging because I hate it (:U ), and an afghan. My problem is that I'll be working on something, get an idea for something else--or see a beautiful yarn--and it's on to the next thing.

Good thing I'm not this way about men. :D!

I think I have about 7 or 8 projects in progress right now :eek2 , which is the most I've ever had going at once. I think I've got some work to do!

I'm working on the stuffed lamb toy from Simply Creative Crochet, Chaotic Bobble Pillow from Hip to Crochet, the Colorwaves purse from IK crochet, an afghan for my daughter, an afghan for my cousin, a baby afghan for my best friend's future baby, a scarf for myself, and a mini pumpkin that needs stuffed. Whew! :read

Right now, I have eight projects going, plus a stack of seven books I want to read. I generally have a bunch of small projects and a couple large ones going at the same time so I don't get too bored.

I tend to have lots of stuff going on all the time, keeps me interested. but also, like many have said, if something's almost done, I've GOT to finish it....I have some orders to fill, which include 3 adult ponchos, 1 child's poncho, 5-6 hats, 3 scarves and 4 sets of fingerless gloves! I just got all my yarn in and I am so excited!:cheer2 :woohoo
