I need some help with stitched wording?

I've been commissioned to make a TARDIS hat, and I have a picture and a pattern that I will be ad-libbing from, but I cant really figure out how I should do the words.

The author of the pattern is instructing to embroider the words on with needle and thread/yarn.

I am aware, but I do not know how to do that, hence the question.

I use an embroidery backstitch. If one strand of yarn in the needle doesn't make a heavy enough line, use a double strand. There are lots of tutorials and videos online.
