Sewing lace or ribbon onto crochet

Question

Hi. Can anyone tell me how to sew onto a crochet piece?

I have a bonnet pattern that has lace or ribbon around the face. The pattern says to glue or sew the lace or ribbon to the hat. I'm thinking that gluing is probably not the best idea if I plan on selling it? So if I'm sewing it, what kind of stitch is best? What kind of thread? Is machine sewing a bad idea?

TIA!

Tiffany

Since you plan to sell this item, perhaps you need to try several different methods to see they work out for you.  Perhaps you can find instructions on the internet for sewing on "knit fabric" to help you develop your unique product.

Oh, thanks for the tip. I have been searching the internet but not finding anything. "knit fabric" will probably give me the results I need. Thanks!
