What yarn is this?

My boyfriend saw this on Tumblr today and I'm really curious what yarn might have been used to make it?

Any ideas? I've been searching around and I'm just left with maybe they dyed it... but thought I'd ask anyways. Thanks.

There are gradient yarns that change from a bright color to black. If you google that term maybe you will find a similar one.

There is a sensations yarn that Joann's carries that had this colorway and it could be from that

So I found the woman who made those gloves and was able to get a hold of her. She said the yarn is Teksrena.. which seems to be difficult to find. I haven't had much luck finding anything like it really to buy.. and when I google it I usually just find something with too many colors and doesn't have the soft transition from one color to another like I'm looking for.

I was thinking of this yarn called Nightfall http://www.fibrofibers.com/nightfallss.html  but when you go to the link and see the projects, the transition between colors is choppy not smooth like in your photo.  

 

maybe ombre is a better term than gradient as I said above.

 

Freia has some ombres that might work http://www.freiafibers.com/store_ombre_lace.htm  in the Patterns section you can see how the colors work out.  

 

you could try holding several strands together of a fine yarn.  start out with 3 strands of balck, switch to 2 black and 1 red, then 2 red and 1 black, then 3 red type of thing might work.

just found this http://www.goodyarnshop.com/index/multicoloured/0-9  #4 looks like the mitts in your photo but it is out of stock.  lol maybe a lot of people are trying to replicate this and bought it all 

I don't know anything about the site but it says they ship worldwide.
