They might not be available in a pattern--they might be machine made, or Made in China!  What book were they in?  It looks like a catalog.

Could be vintage thread tablecloth motifs made with yarn instead of thread.

Try freepatterns.com  They have lots of old patterns available.  By the way--I just noticed you just joined us today!  WELCOME to the "Ville!!  :welcome

I can't see the second, flicker pic (it wants me to sign in).

The first looks like tablecloth motifs made with yarn, more or less.  I think there are 2 motifs - 1 large, the other is either (1) a much smaller circle - about a million of them to 1 big circle, or (2) a squareish motif that looks like a lot of connected little circles.  I wish I could zoom in a bit more.

Although it doesn't look exactly like your pic, it reminded me of the 'feel' of this pattern http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80232AD.html

Here is one, more tablecloth-like

This might look sort of similar if you eliminated the inside round of scallops, and instead made the larger motif with a larger solid center

Here are some thread tablecloth patterns, maybe Star Wheel or Lucky Star would come close?

welcome to the ville  :hook

For the flickr photo, there is a person on Ravelry who has the same username and appears to be the same person.  in her projects page i do not see the one you are asking about, but you could send her a private message there and ask her about it.  to sign up on Ravelry, just go to ravelry.com
