Galaxy Afghan (finished)

This is my version of the galaxy afghan. I tracked down the book this pattern was in, changed the colors to black and rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), added some extra circles to accommodate the extra colors, and will be adjusting the width of the striped sides.

 

(Found the afghan on ravelry here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/galaxy-afghan-2 and bought the book the pattern is in off of amazon)

And here is all the crocheting of the circles done (there are 72 pieces!!). I still have to weave in ALL the ends, and then assemble the circle sections before I can crochet the stripe sides, but it is about halfway done!!!

Thanks!! Yeah, the weaving is going to take FOREVER!!!! And I can't start until I get my contacts straightened out. Need to be able to see to weave all that in!

 

I can't wait to see how it turns out either!! The colors are looking just like I had imagined they would.

I haven't touched this for 2 weeks now. Not much crocheting or yarn work either. Hoping to get my mojo back soon. Those ends won't weave themselves ( wouldn't that be WONDERFUL if they did? Lol ).

Well, it took me forever (mostly me putting it off) to weave in all those ends, but I finally finished and have now started assembling the circles section of the blanket!!

Yes, the assembly is proving to be quite a challenge!! but i knew it would be before i started. For now, it is a fair entry. I have not decided whether I will keep it or if I will sell it.

Making some slow progress. I didn't get to work on it this weekend because I had to take my kids school shopping and it was a 2 day ordeal and very tiring! I finished tacking the orange down and have started on the yellow. Once I get all the partial circles tacked down and connected, I'll be able to crochet them together to give a better, finished look to the blanket. Then I get to crochet the striped sides and connect them!! I'm ready to get this done!!!

Next color started! This is going to be a BIG afghan. It is 6 feet long already and I have no idea how wide it will end up. I know I'm going to have to make the stripe sides smaller width wise.
