20 inch crescent moon

hello all, i am trying to make a personalize baby blanket. the child's middle name is moon, and I am wanting to put a large moon in the middle of the blanket, but i am having a tough time making it work. i am a much better at knitting that crocheting , but the blanket is a crocheted blanket. i wanted to keep with the same style. any ideas or patterns would be greatly appreciated!!!!! please help. this is the last aspect of the blanket before it is complete and i want it to be perfect!!!!

Welcome to the ville!  

 

If i were going to do this, i would draw the shape i want on paper.  then start crocheting to fit that template.  I would probably start with the inner curve.  remember, with crochet you can easily change directions, number of stitches in a row, you don't have to set up the sttiches as in knitting.  Use short rows or whatever you need to to make the shape.  then sew the moon onto the blanket.  

 

other possibilities would be to do the moon in filet crochet or color work, which you could graph out.
