HELP! Joining To Form A Ring

Lynn

Question

A very good morning to you all!

I hope someone will have an idea that will help here.

Does anyone have a tip to keep a chain from twisting when joining into a ring to crochet in the round? Can't tell you how many times I have ripped out to start over again. There has to be a way to keep the chain straight! Any ideas?

How long is the chain to begin with?

I know one trick some people do is after doing the chain, they turn the work and do the first 'round' as a 'row' then join the ring and continue after that. The first tail from starting the chain can be used to sew up the small gap.
