Christmas House Crocheted on a # 10 coffee can

A couple of years ago my mom bought a Christmas house can cover at a yardsale. she brought it to me and I wrote the pattern to the best of my ability. I do not have a picture as I am blind, but hopefully this will help.

 

CHRISTMAS HOUSE CAN COVER

 

Size: Fits 3 pound coffee can.

 

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, red for house, white and small

amount of green; yarn needle; H crochet hook.

 

Picot: Ch2, sl st in top of last tr.

 

Can Cover: With red and starting at center bottom, ch4, join with

sl st in 4th ch from hook to form a ring.

 

Rnd 1: ch3, 9 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch3: 10.

 

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in joining, 2 dc in each dc around, join; 20.

 

Rnd 3: ch3, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc)

around, join: 30.

 

Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc

in next dc) around, join: 40.

 

Rnd 5: Ch3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 3 dc, 2

dc in next dc) around, join: 50.

 

Rnd 6: Ch3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 4 dc, 2

dc in next dc) around, join: 60.

 

Rnd 7: Ch3, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 5 dc, 2

dc in next dc) around, join: 70.

 

Sides:

 

Rnd 1: Working in back lps only, sc in each dc around, join with sl

st in first sc: 70.

 

Rnds 2-24: Ch1, sc in each sc around, join. At end of last rnd,

fasten off.

 

Bottom Snow Ruffle: Working in rem lps of bottom, join white with

sl st in center back; ch1, (sc, ch3, 2 dc) in same lp, sk next 2

lps, (sc, ch3, 2 dc) in next lp) around, join with sl st in first

sc. Fasten off.

 

Door: With white, ch9.

 

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; ch1, turn: 8.

 

Rows 2-12: Sc in each sc across; ch1, turn.

 

Rows 13-16: Sc first 2 sc together, sc across to last 2 sc, sc last

2 sc together; ch1, turn: 2. At end of last row, fasten off. Sew to

front of side, with Row 1 just above snow ruffle and last row at

Rnd 16.

 

Wreath: With green, ch2.

 

Rnd 1: 8 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st in first sc.

 

Rnd 2: Ch1, sc in joining, (ch2, sc in next sc) around, ch2, join

with sl st in first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

Berries: With red, work French knots in each ch2 section around,

working over ch2 sp, not in it. Sew wreath to door Rows 12 15.

 

Windows: (make 2) With white, ch8.

 

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across: 6; ch3, turn.

 

Row 2: Dc in each dc across; ch4, turn.

 

Rnd 3: Sk first dc, (dc in next dc, ch1, sk next dc) across to last

dc, (dc, ch2, dc) in next dc, ch1, dc between rows 1 & 2, ch1, (dc,

ch2, dc) in first ch on opposite side of Row 1, (sk next ch, dc in

next ch, ch1) across to last ch, (dc, ch2, dc) in last ch, ch1, dc

between rows 1 & 2, ch1, dc in same dc as first dc of Rnd 3, ch2,

join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4. Fasten off. Turn window so

rows are vertical; sew to Rnds 8-18 of sides. With green, tie

bowknots at bottom of solid section of windows.

 

Roof: With red, ch2.

 

Rnd 1: 4 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st in first sc.

 

Rnd 2: Ch1, sc in joining, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in

last sc, join: 6.

 

Rnd 3: Ch1, sc in joining and in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in

next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 8.

 

Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in joining, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in

next sc) around, join: 12.

 

Rnd 5: Ch1, sc in joining and in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in

next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 16.

 

Rnd 6: Ch1, sc in joining and in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in

next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 20.

 

Rnd 7: ch1, sc in joining and in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in

next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 24. Fasten off red.

 

Rnd 8: Join white with sl st in joining; ch1, sc in joining and in

next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc)

around, join: 28.

 

Rnd 9: Ch1, sc in each sc around, join.

 

Rnd 10: Working in back lps only, ch1, sc in joining ad in next 2

sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around,

join: 35.

 

Rnd 11: Ch1, sc in joining and in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc

in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 42.

 

Rnd 12: Ch1, working in back lps only, sc in joining and in each sc

around, join.

 

Rnd 13: ch1, sc in joining and in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 9 sc

in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 48.

 

Rnd 14: ch1, working in back lps only, sc in joining and in each sc

around, join.

 

Rnd 15: ch1, sc in joining and in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc

in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 54.

 

Rnd 16: Ch1, working in back lps only, sc in joining and in each sc

around, join.

 

Rnd 17: ch1, sc in joining and in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc

in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around, join: 63.

 

Rnd 18: ch1, working in back lps only, sc in joining and in each sc

Roof Snow Ruffle:

 

Rnd 23: Ch1, working in back lps only, sc in joining, dc in next

sc, (tr, picot, tr) in next sc, dc in next sc, sc in next sc, * sc

in next sc, dc in next sc, (tr, picot, tr) in next sc, dc in next

sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around, join with sl st in first sc.

Fasten off.

 

With green yarn, tie bows in every other picot around.

 

Roof Ruffles: Join white with sc in joining, ch3, 2 dc in same lp,

* sk next 2 lps, (sc, ch3, 2 dc) in next lp) rep from * around,

join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Rep in rnds 12, 16, 20 and

22.

 

Working in rem lps on Rnd 22, sew roof to top of lid, stuffing

lightly before closing. Place cover on can and place lid on top.
